An Introduction To WhimsiCore!
WhimsiCore Is Born!
who is 'Mochii'?
What leads a girl to becoming a Blogger? So MANY things!
Mochii wasn't always a self starting, 26 year old, entrepreneur, she was once an anxious teenage girl, and a kid who was always told her dreams are too big and her passion too misguided. when Mochii was kid she was... lets say for lack of a better word... boisterous. whether she was exploring the local bushes with her fellow wild child friends or discovering the vast world on her own, one thing always seemed to stay the same, Mochii was out there, learning.
the poisonous bird situation
Mochii grew up in Kabwe, central Zambia, and there where a lot of exciting things about growing up there for her. like local plants that she would eat and... unfortunately... animals too. Native Zambians aren't strangers to hunting, most of their ancestors come from nomad tribes that all situated in Zambia after civil wars.
One fascinating thing about Zambia is it was once a British colony. it was known as Northern Rhodesia. and the place Mochii grew up was once a local community to mine owners. one thing every adult made sure to let kids know was to not walk bare foot, as the soil still had lead from all the mines that existed over a decade before. That aside, her local community was beautiful, peaceful and lusciously green. homes had yards that where fenced with either tall bushes, straw grass or brick. When all the mine owners abandoned the community you can guess what they left behind, big beautiful houses, with big giant yards and swimming pools, most of which where already buried in rubble, so not a lot of yard swimming for her or her friends unfortunately. Regardless every house in the neighborhood would come with lots of space, a suburban house and a smaller house in the corner called a 'servants quarter'. which I assume is where the house help of the previous owners used to live. Mochii did grow up with a maid and it was common for every house there to have one. this neighborhood had a blend of the native cultures and British colony culture. it was like being upper-class, in a weird local farm girl way.
lets get back to how some people used to hunt for food. a lot of people in this town where still in touch with their native roots despite the modern culture and houses. Mochii would spend most of her days 3 houses down the block, with her fraternal twin friends, their older brothers where fraternal twins too, it was very fascinating. they would teach Mochii all kinds of things from the locals, like how to make catapults and wire cars. one day they where out in the bushes testing out their catapults and learning to hunt for food like the locals and eventually they caught a kill. a native bird they had no idea what to do with. Mochii and her friends hoping to practice their fire setting and cooking skills, decided to make a small delicious lunch. it tasted terrible. a couple hours later Mochii and her friends couldn't stop complaining about how itchy their lips where. they all cooked and ate a poisonous bird. for the next two weeks all their lips where peeling and dry. this was something her and her friends laughed about for the next few years.
despite their youthful curiosity they realized they didn't know all that much about the world and how that some birds where never meant to be eaten.
What's the point of me even telling you this story? well its very relevant to who Mochii becomes and how she becomes this way. this upbringing of blended culture introduce Mochii to a lifestyle that she carried on into adulthood.
